I want to welcome you to Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Since I arrived here, I have been impressed with the welcome of the people, the activities of the parish, and the quality of the liturgies. It is a faith community full of energy, enthusiasm, and, most importantly, people who want to serve the Lord and one another. I believe that you will also find Saint Joseph to be a wonderful parish!
Most of all, I look forward to getting to know you. I pray that as we walk on our journey together here at Saint Joseph, we will continue to grow in the Lord. If I can assist you in any way, please feel free to contact me.

When Jesus taught in the synagogue of his native place, he didn’t fit the image of the Messiah the people expected. They dismissed him. Let’s learn from their example and remember that God often comes to us in forms that are surprising — even challenging.

Speak your command of “Quiet! Be still!” into the dark recesses of my mind — my fears, concerns, and anxieties. Be with me, at every moment, no matter the storm. Fix my eyes upon you. Amen.
Today is the Feast of the Nativity of Jesus' cousin, St. John the Baptist. We celebrate John's birth with joy as we remember him and the way he loved Jesus, baptizing him, and pointing people toward repentance and love.
In the Gospel this upcoming Sunday, we hear about Jesus calming the storm.
"They were filled with great awe and said to one another,
“Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?” (Mark 4:41)

Last week St. Joseph Life Teen youth had a blast at Cove Crest summer camp. The days were filled with fun activities along with worship and adoration. This weekend is the 3rd Sunday of Lent.
Jesus was not afraid to confront iniquity wherever he encountered it, and his zeal for righteousness was so strong it looked like anger as he drove the moneychangers from the temple. Pray that, with that same devotion and care, he will cleanse our hearts from sin.
Prayer of Trust —
Dear Lord,
Your ways confuse me sometimes. Often, I don’t fully understand what You are doing. But I believe that You are working in a way that will one day make sense. Until then, keep me close to You, trusting blindly in the ways You lead me. Amen.

After a brief report of Jesus’ temptation by Satan in the desert, we hear the first words of Jesus at the launch of his public ministry in Galilee: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” As we begin the Lenten journey, what are some temptations you plan to face this Lent?

This past weekend the Kindergarteners explored some of Jesus Miracles.
Jesus first Miracle, The Wedding at Cana - Jesus turns water into wine.
Jesus helps the apostles catch a large amount of fish after they fished all night.
Jesus feeds the 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.
Jesus walks on water, Peter asks to come out with him, but he starts to sink.
Conversation Starter: What is your favorite miracle of Jesus?
This Sunday, we hear about the start of Jesus’s public ministry in Galilee. We hear He was purpose-driven in performing many healings and exorcisms, as well as preaching the good news of the kingdom of God. What could you do this week as an intentional act of charity or kindness?

This Saturday, February 3, is the Feast of St. Blaise. There will be Blessing of the Throats after the 8 AM and 5:30 PM Masses.
This Sunday, Mark informs us that early in Jesus’s public ministry his “fame spread” quickly throughout Galilee because of his powerful deeds, such as the healing of the demon-possessed man in today’s reading. Is there something or someone in your life that you pray Jesus would heal?

This morning our Embark (elementary) parents engaged in a presentation by Monsignor Ed Thein about the history of the Holy Eucharist. The monthly parent sessions have a Eucharistic Revival theme this year.
This Sunday, we'll hear the first words of Jesus in Mark’s account of the call of the first disciples: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Jesus taught that the time had come for God to come and reclaim His world. What excites you about this message?

This year the 4th Sunday of Advent falls on Christmas Eve. On Sunday morning we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent with our regular Mass schedule ending at 1 PM. Our Christmas Masses begin with the 4:00 PM Christmas Eve Vigil.
Prepare the way of the Lord! Please join us for an Advent Penance Service this Wednesday, December 20 at 7 PM.
We hope you will join us for Mass today or tomorrow for the Feast of All Saints, a holy day of obligation.
Blessing of the Pets
On a chilly morning, Monsignor Walsh greeted pets and owners on the lawn. There were a variety of pets including dogs, cats, birds and a rabbit. Each pet and owner were sprinkled with holy water and given a "Blessing for Pets" prayer card. May all of God's animals be blest.

Block Party fun! Thanks to the many volunteers that made our Block Party such a great success.
Today Saint Joseph was honored to host the Atlanta Life Teen Empower training. Over 180 youth ministers and volunteers gathered in fellowship to learn how to better serve our youth.
A big thanks to the Saint Joseph Knights for a wonderful Italian night! The food was great and the company was outstanding. What a wonderful way to come back together as a parish after the summer.

Saint Joseph has established a twin relationship with Our Lady of Assumption in Tacana, Guatemala. This parish contains 60,000 parishioners, 137 villages, and 4,000 pastoral workers. Our goal through this parish twinning is to build relationships in the spirit of solidarity. It is an opportunity where we can learn from and help each other.

This week some of the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist to the sick and home bound of our parish had an extra special gift for this they visited, Valentine’s Cards! The Embark sessions our younger children sometimes with the help of their parents, completed acts of love creating cards for the sick and home bound of the parish. In total about 150 cards were created!
EDGE SERVICE PROJECT
The Edge Wednesday group made 230 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and 67 blessing bags this week. The bags included very sweet and heartfelt notes for the homeless. These were taken to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception where they were distributed to the homeless men and women in downtown Atlanta over the weekend.

What a wonderful night! over 100 women from St. Joseph and St. James Episcopal participated in a harvest stroll on the Marietta Square. They enjoyed great shopping, friends, and treats along the way.
